How Do You Keep Such Healthy Margins?

Pay by bank through Sonas means far less of every booking disappears in card fees.

Wedding margins get squeezed from every direction: food, staffing, energy. One of the easiest places to claw some back turned out to be the payments themselves.

Card fees add up

Card fees are charged as a percentage, and weddings are big numbers. On a £20,000 booking that can easily be a few hundred pounds, gone before the couple has chosen a menu. Across five venues and a full season, it was a figure we didn’t enjoy looking at.

Pay by bank instead

Sonas lets couples pay by bank. They tap the link in their payment reminder, approve it in their own banking app and the money lands in our account. There are no card details to type in, and the fee is a fraction of a card payment.

Most of our couples now choose to pay by bank, and we keep hundreds of pounds more from every wedding.

Cards are still there for couples who want them, and every payment, however it’s made, shows against the booking without anyone typing it in.
